Centre for Ageing Population Studies, Department of Primary Care & Population Sciences, University College Medical School, Royal Free Campus, Rowland Hill Street, London NW3 2PF This article describes a consultation event held as part of the process of reviewing the qualitative evidence for the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and Social Care Institute for Excellence Guidelines (SCIE) on dementia (2006). It shows how events such as these can provide valuable information to be included in systematic reviews but also help identify research priorities for the future.
